The HOTS Summer Program  2012

This summer Together We Create are pulling out all the stops to give young people who live and learn in Hounslow the best summer ever.

Our program of free events include:

Lets Get Digital Community Days – your chance to be an Olympic hero thanks to some good photos and cleaver Photoshop!

We are also embarking on a Buntathon! We are aiming to produce 1km of Bunting for Hounslow. We are asking all schools in the borough to spend just an hour designing pennants, which will be part of the mega bunting extravaganza. We have produced a very simple and useful tool kit for schools which is easy to follow and can be emailed to you. Once the bunting is completed it will be hung in open spaces throughout Hounslow. This project is absolutely free to take part in.

Other events include: The HOTS  Final for Schools – 12^th July, Hounslow Schools Torch Relay -25^th July, Summer Holiday HOTS Workshops 30^th July – 15^th August.

Barry Ferns (one of the TWC Team) writes about his creative session at Featherstone:

“The project at Featherstone was a creative day where creative people came into the school to talk about their careers and give learning advice. There was a theatre director, a photographer, a tabla player and sometone doing a workshop on career guidance and creative goals.

I did three workshops; one on stand up comedy, one on drama and comedy and a third on script writing. They were all an hour long and gave an insight into the three subjects for the young people. The day was finished off with a Q&A Session.

A really lovely day which was well organised by the team at Featherstone. Look forward to next year!”

Menear and Sarah are getting Creative in Cricklewood! Together We Create is supporting the Greener Cleaner Cricklewood project. Our first piece of work was this fab poster created to promote the Cricklewood’s Green Weel 16th – 22nd April.

On Thursday 1^st March Mary Macleod MP visited Isleworth and Syon school to sample some of West London’s finest Smoothie creations.

10 Boys from Year Eight are currently working thought the tasks and challenges that the HOTS project has in store. Today the boys investigated food groups as part of the Dietician section of the HOTS project and  before the Smoothies began flowing from the blender a very vibrant discussion was had about good and bad foods.

Next week the boys will be looking at the work of the trainer and I am told learning all there is to know about BMX Biking !

create your own sports medal to take home, and find out if you know your
carbs from your cholesterol in our healthy eating challenge!

The HOTS 2012 is offering a small number of FREE places on our Digital Art Half Term Workshops taking place over February Half Term.

We are offering two 2 day workshops which will take place on:
Monday 13^th February & Tuesday 14^th February
and
Wednesday 15^th February & Thursday 16^th February

The workshops will start at 10am finishing at 2pm

The HOTS Promo Video

Wow what a year 2011 was! The HOTS really took off- we demonstrated the value of creative thinking in education in our run up to the London 2012 Olympics in Hounslow.

Sofia’s Science sessions took Wellington Primary School by storm.

We continued to collaborate with schools across London, Villiers High School,  Capital City Academy, Greenford High School and Acton High School to name a few. And we developed some really key relationships with community partners in Hackney, Barnet, Hounslow and … West Cornwall!
