Hounslow Hold-onto-Sports (The HOTS) is back for its final year as part of the run up to the London 2012 Olympics.

The HOTS has been designed as a fun and educational way for children who may not be sporty to engage in sport and at the same time enhance their literacy and communication skills.

The HOTS focuses on what it is like to be a sports professional, either a Trainer, Dietician, Physio or PR Manger and asks the young people involved in the project to create films, animations, powerpoints and podcasts to demonstrate what they know about the different sports professionals. The HOTS is a competition with prizes awarded at the big HOTS celebration in July as part of the London 2012 Olympic Celebrations.

The HOTS is open to all schools across the London Borough of Hounslow. As part of the project, the HOTS Team can support sessions in your schools and provide free training for your staff. We are also working closely with LOCOG, Sports Partnerships and Fushion and hope to provide a calendar of free additional events throughout the school year.

For more information please contact Sarah Hoyle at sarah@togetherwecreate.org.uk

On Saturday 2nd July Children from Schools and Youth Centres across Hounslow will converge on the Civic Centre to battle it out to become the HOTS Wii Champion 2011!

The HOTS – (Hold On To Sports) was set up in September 2009. Officially recognised as the London Borough of Hounslow’s London 2012 Olympics Project, The HOTS is designed provide a chance for non-sporty young people to get involved in sports. The project encourages children who enjoy playing computer games to learn more about sports and have a go at a ‘real’ non virtual sport

The project also gives the students a chance to learn about Physio, Dietitians, PR Managers and Trainers – key people who support a world class athelete. For Each role (Physio, Dietitians, PR Managers and Trainers) the children have to complete small tasks. The children submit their work online which is then judged by an expert panel. Gold, Silver and Bronze medals are awarded for the best work created.

The HOTS final on the 2nd July will be a chance for all the children involved in the project to get together, receive their awards and certificates and see who is the best Wii Athlete in the Borough in a super play off!
