This April, TWC starts an exciting new partnership project with Origin Housing. Working with the local community in Somers Town, TWC will be curating the first ever Sidney Estate Stories Project.
The Sidney Estate in Somers Town is about to undergo a multi-year regeneration project, with a raft of both physical improvements and community work taking place.
Having fully opened in the early 1930’s as the jewel in the crown of the then St Pancras Housing Improvement Society, the Sidney has a rich social history – with some residents having lived there for both their life, and the life of the estate.
Using iPads and other digital equipment the team from TWC will work with the local residents from the Sidney Estate to capture the stories that have made the neighbourhood such a special place.
As the team from Origin Housing Association added “Origin is keen to use the opportunity provided by the regeneration to give residents a chance to tell their stories, the stories of the community, and of the buildings themselves. Not only will this project celebrate the incredible social history of the Sidney, it will also help create a shared understanding of life on the estate – bridging gaps between young and old.”
The project start in April 2015. More details to follow.
