2014 has started with some fantastic new projects underway for the TWC team. We thought we would give you a quick update on what we are up to, and share some of the exciting new projects coming up:
In late 2013 we started our first project in Cricklewood. ‘The Vision on Cricklewood’ project is a film-making project working with students at Hampstead School to promote Cricklewood. The project has now been running for four months and is due to end in April with a community film screening. The film will also be published on the Cricklewood Community website. We have seen some early edits and we think it’s going to be great! Watch this space for further updates on the date and location of this screening!
Over to another part of London, where we recently teamed up with the Honeywell Community Centre to run the new ‘Honeywell Creates’project in West Drayton. Taking place over the February half term, this project was designed to teach young people new skills in audio production and the art of film making.

With so many young people at a loose end over the half-term break, this project provided a unique opportunity for participants to learn new creative skills while also making a positive contribution to the local area. Thanks to our partners at the A2 Dominion Housing Association, who helped to make this project happen!
In another first for TWC, we will shortly be commencing the ‘A- Bee-See’ project, which is a brand new concept that aims to bring together creative learning and bee environmental awareness. The project was created in response to the growing concerns of the livelihood of bees and the local environment. Students from 9 primary schools across West London will be participating in a number of creative digital learning workshops. These workshops will run alongside field-based activities which will include an educational visit to Hounslow Farm’s bee hives, the installation of three bee hives in West London and the creation of an environmental resource pack.

Hot off the press! We are also delighted to announce that we have been awarded funding to run a a second year of the Lights Camera Kingsley project, which will be a literacy and digital animation project for students based in Hounslow.
